|
The Purpose of this study was to empirically investigate the effectiveness of mentoring programs as an intervention strategy for children in poverty. In particular it focused on the effectiveness of mentoring programs in learning motivation and self-esteem improvement of poor children. Mentoring programs were run for seven months. The study examined the effectiveness of the mentoring programs on 193 mentees by a paired samples t-test. The results were that the mentoring programs had a positive effect on the learning motivation and self-esteem of children in poverty. On the basis of these findings, this study recommends mentoring programs as an effective practical strategy to improve the learning motivation and self-esteem of children in poverty.
